The American Hotel Lodging Association AHLA has registered over 15,000 hotels across the United States as part of its Hospitality for Hope initiative. This program connect hotels with healthcare agencies to offer temporary housing for emergency and healthcare workers or as alternative care sites.

Initiated by AHLA in collaboration with local, state, and federal governments, this partnership seeks to facilitate cooperation between hotel businesses and public health authorities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Since its launch, participation has escalated from around 6,000 hotels to more than 15,000 properties.

This innovative initiative has identified an aggregated total of approximately 2.3 million rooms located in close proximity to established healthcare facilities. A national Hospitality for Hope database is being developed by AHLA and its state association partners to assist the U.S. Department of Health and Services HHS in coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local emergency management agencies, and public health offices.

To expedite this matching process and streamline connections between willing hotels and government entities at various levels, resources are being provided by AHLA for members through dedicated platforms.
